Day 15

Cheers to Fi for today’s meme!

LAYER ONE: THE OUTSIDE

What’s your preferred name?
Never Connie.

Do you wear glasses?
Yes. I’ve been shortsighted since the age of nine. Now needing glasses for reading, too. Yay.

How would you describe your fashion style?
I please myself. This means no makeup, sensible shoes, and a bling collection.

LAYER TWO: THE INSIDE

What do you fear?
Cockroaches. Used to fear public speaking, too. Got over my fear of public speaking, but I can’t see myself getting over my fear of cockroaches.

What is your guilty pleasure?
Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups.

Online shopping.

French bulldogs on Instagram.

LAYER THREE: YOUR THOUGHTS

What was your first thought when you woke up today?
“What time is my first meeting today?” Then, “What time is it?”

What you think about most?
Currently, work. Constantly thinking about what needs to be done, what needs to change, and how we’re going to get there.

LAYER FOUR: WHAT’S BETTER?

To be loved or respected?
I’ll go with respect.

Dogs or cats?
Dogs. I used to be a cat person but I converted. Now I adore dogs’ openness and ability to be in the moment.

LAYER FIVE: BELIEF

Believe in yourself?
Yes. It’s taken a while. Would you believe I once thought I couldn’t be a librarian because I’m not smart enough? (Not a joke. Glad I got over this as it would probably have been debilitating in all other aspects of my life.)

Believe in love?
Never know how to answer this – yes? I suppose?

LAYER SIX: YOUR TALENTS

Do you play a musical instrument?
No. …No, this is not 100% true, I was a drummer in the school military band. Snare drum, tenor drum, bass drum, drum kit.

Do you enjoy cooking?
I have to be in the mood. My problem is, I’m a trained chef so I prefer to have a fully stocked kitchen, a couple of apprentices to do the mise en place, and a human dishwasher.

Are you any good at gardening?
No. This is not a skill I’ve bothered to cultivate (groan) thus far.

LAYER SEVEN: YOUR FAVOURITES

Favourite animal?
Flat nosed dogs.

Favourite movie?
I had to ask M, I’m so not a movie person. I’d rather read the book. Maybe Studio Ghibli’s Spirited Away?

Favourite book?
To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee. I hesitated naming this book, because it seems so clichéd to pick it, but I don’t want to pick something else just for the sake of looking cool.

LAYER EIGHT: AGE

How old are you?
45 this year. 46 by Chinese reckoning.

Does age matter?
Nope. It’s all about your attitude. You can be 20 and fossilised, 80 and still vibrant. I know people of both varieties.
