Down at the Dog Park

Down at the Dog Park

M reassuring Peppi, who was a little nervous upon meeting a Great Dane while we were at the dog park this afternoon. The Great Dane was a complete softy and very friendly but I can understand Peppi’s caution.

I love dog spotting at the dog park. There are usually lots of Labradors, Golden Retrievers, Staffordshire terriers (love the Staffys), Maltese/Shih-tzus, Jack Russells and Dobermans. There’s a Dachshund fancier club that meets at the park and it’s always very amusing to see all the sausage dogs when the club’s in session. When there are other Chihuahuas it’s always fun. I also like the Pugs, Scottish Terriers, Boston Terriers and French Bulldogs.

Our Chihuahuas are usually the smallest dogs at the park. They’re usually quite well-behaved and apart from Peppi’s usual hesitation around big dogs*, get along fine with others. Paco does have a penchant for snooping at picnics or barbecues, in the hope of snacks. He also is prone to marking anything left unattended on the ground (picnic blankets, bags, children’s toys) so needs to have an eye kept on him.

*I should say that most other dogs are big, to Peppi. She doesn’t get aggressive though, just sticks very close to M and tries to stand behind him or between his legs.

Oh, Peppi. She’d be lost without M. 😉
